Siteline + Sage 100 Contractor - Setup (Siteline)

One-time setup for the Siteline + Sage 100 Contractor integration via Siteline

Intended audience: technical user. This page covers the one-time installation and server configuration required to keep the Sage 100 Contractor connector online. Day-to-day billing workflows are covered on the Usage page.

  1. Add a new SQL Admin User

    Only SQL Admin Users can read and write data between Siteline and Sage 100 Contractor. To add a SQL Admin User:

    1. Open the Sage 100 Contractor Database Administration app.

    2. Under Company admin / SQL Logins, select Add SQL Server Login. For Authentication, select SQL Server Authentication. We recommend naming the login siteline-admin. Enter a strong password and check Add as member of the sysadmin role.

    3. To verify the new user has the correct permissions, go to Modify SQL Server Administration in the left-hand nav, select the login, and press Update sysadmins.

    4. Go to Add Company Administrator in the left-hand nav and add the new user to your company.

  2. Create a Security Group

    Make sure to complete the following steps in the Sage 100 Contractor company you plan to link to.

    Create a Security Group and add the SQL Admin User to it.

    1. When logging into Sage 100 Contractor, open the company with Administrator rights.

    2. In the left-hand rail, select 7 - Utilities2 - Company Security1 - Security Groups.

    3. Insert a row in the Security Groups table (e.g. API) and press the Save icon in the top right. Make sure to set the Save and Delete privileges to Yes.

    4. Back in the left-hand rail, select 7 - Utilities2 - Company Security2 - User List.

    5. Assign the user created in the previous step to the Security Group you just created, then press the Save icon in the top right.

  3. Download the Siteline Connector installer

    Sign in to the Windows machine that runs Sage 100 Contractor, open your default browser, and download the installer from:

  4. Switch to Windows Service

    After installation, open the Siteline Connector and click Switch to Windows Service. This keeps the connector running even when you're logged out and greatly improves its reliability.

    This step requires an administrator account on the Windows machine.

    In the Restart required dialog, click Restart and switch. The connector will relaunch as a Windows Service.

  5. Add a connection

    Click Add connection (top right) or Add your first connection (center of the screen) to start configuring the connection to Sage 100 Contractor.

  6. Paste the pairing code

    Paste the pairing code provided by your Siteline CSM into the Pairing code field, then click Next.

  7. Enter the Sage 100 database connection details

    Fill in the connection form with the Sage 100 database information gathered earlier:

    • Database name — the Sage 100 company database (e.g. Sample Company)

    • Host — the SQL Server host (e.g. SITELINERDS)

    • User — the SQL user Siteline should authenticate as (e.g. siteline-admin)

    • Password — the password for that user

    • Instance name — the SQL Server instance (e.g. SAGE100CON)

    Click Test connection to verify the connector can reach the database. Once the test succeeds, click Add.

  8. Verify all status indicators are green

    Once the connection is added, all status indicators (Tunnel, Database, XML) should be green. If any of them aren't, please send a screenshot of the errors to your Siteline CSM so we can look into it.
